Skeleton Point
Skeleton Point, possibly where the remains of dead hikers can be found?
This is as far as I went on the South Kaibab Trail, which also goes all the way to the River
descending over 5000 feet

South Rim

Heading back up the South Kaibab trail

Ground squirrel
This little devil kept trying to crawl up my right leg to get to a Payday candy bar I was eating as a snack at an
overlook called Cedar Ridge. He made it as far as my thigh. The nut you see him eating
is a piece that fell off the candy bar onto the ground that he grabbed immediately.

Trail view
From the South Rim trail looking down at a section of the South Kaibab trail that I had just hiked

Looking east
Looking east from the South Rim trail between Yaki Point and Mather Point

Gopher snake
Why did this gopher snake cross the Rim Trail?...To get to the other side, of course.

Closeup of snake
The more important question is why this snake would hang out
around a trail that has thousands of people on it daily.
