Alaska Hiking - Kenai to Denali, July 12-23, 2018
Page Three - Talkeetna and flight around Mt. Denali
After a short hike at Talkeetna Lakes Park, the group went to
K2 Aviation in Talkeetna for a flight around Mt. Denali and
to land on a glacier. I was in the co-pilot's seat on the way out,
but the pilot didn't need my help.
Mt. Denali, formerly called Mt. McKinley, is the highest
mountain peak in North America, with a summit elevation
of 20, 310 feet.
Mt. Denali is in the Alaska Range.

in the back on the left is a place where you
can pay 1000s of dollars to stay.
We did not stay there. It is called
the Don Sheldon Mountain House or Sheldon Chalet.
The land was claimed by aviator Don Sheldon in the mid-1950s
under the Homestead Act.
Later, Denali National Park
and surrounded the property.

Everyone except us and a couple from Cincinnati was
from California.
