Alaska Hiking - Kenai to Denali, July 12-23, 2018
Page Five - Final hikes and Alaska Railroad
After we returned from the Mt. Denali Park road trip,
that is referred to as the
North American safari,
we did a short hike on the edge of the
Park called Triple Lakes trail.
The second lake. We did not go to the third.
Frazier, one of the tour guides, photographed
me photographing
the lake.
The final day of hiking we hiked the Sugarloaf Mountain trail.
This a view of the highway that leads to the National Park
as seen from the trail.
Interesting rock formations on the hike. We were heading to
the area in the background. The trail was steep in sections.
Especially coming back down, we had to be careful because of
loose scree and the steepness.

a different ridge
than we had come up on.
Another view looking back. You can see the trail in the
foreground that went between the rocks.
At the train depot in Denali the next morning.
We took the Alaska Railroad from Denali National Park back to
Anchorage, about a 7.5 hour ride.

Again, we saw Mt. Denali clearly from the train.

The train had some dome cars above the regular cars.
Final view of Mt. Denali before getting back to Anchorage around
8pm. We stayed overnight at the Lakefront Anchorage and
flew back to Denver the following afternoon.
